Szabor was founded on December 4, 2017 as a Presidential Republic with a direct democracy oriented legislature called the Regional Council. I was elected into office on February 2018 and oversaw the change from Presidential Republic to Empire for Szabor. I am currently serving my second and last term in office as Chancellor with the first being as President. In that time, I have come to identified the critical weakness of Szabori Politics and its effects on Szabori Government.
1. The environment within Szabor is very open with no holds barred. A blunt and at times rude but humourous regional community. Yet the same community can be a hazard towards those interested in seeking elected office. The Roleplay orientation of the region creates a brain drain where bright individuals or most of the citizenry are focused towards Roleplay rather than political participation. This is proven by the low voter turnout in the Republic-Era popular democracy style legislature. In order for Szabor to grow, this community has to change or the region will collapse.
2. The system of government laid out within the Republic and Imperial Constitution in theory is based on Separation of Powers Theory. There is the Executive charged with the implementation of laws and regional policies. The Legislative charged the lawmaking responsibilities as well as to check the powers of the Executive and the Judiciary. Lastly, the Judiciary whom function as the supreme check and balance on the actions of the Executive and Legislative.
Yet in reality, it is the Executive that dominates day-to-day work of the region. This has been proven in the Republic and Imperial Eras of the Region. Almost all legislative work was spearheaded by Executive action and if not the Executive, it would be the Founder or several citizens yet still little compared to the Executive Action. This leads to the culture of reliance upon one branch that is unhealthy towards the long term growth of Szabor. Should the Executive falter then it would mean the failing of the other branches. Thought the Judiciary would not be affected much as it is the most inactive branch of the region. Functioning only to review bills before being proposed in the legislature.
3. The community of the region has to be matured when it comes to decision making. There are many examples of immaturity and cases where personal opinion got in the way of long term regional survival. Such behavior has to stop. A significant part of community as a whole is either ignorant of diplomatic protocol or lacks the maturity to govern the region. There is great potential among certain people yet they are dominated by either immature personalities or just foolishly recalcitrant beliefs that do not work with statesmanship.
In conclusion, it should be the priority of the Recruitment authorities of the Region to recruit more citizens to increase the citizenry pool. Relying on the same group of active citizens will be the downfall of the region when that active core is broken or leaves. As Vice President, then President and now as Chancellor, the security and long term survival of the region is an issue that should be considered seriously when in debate. If we cannot find a proper solution, dissolution is recommended.
